-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
NSRG offers pistol shooters an excellent facility with which to enjoy their sport. There are 3 covered shooting bays, 2 of which have electric target systems. In addition overhead radiant heaters keep your hands warm on those chilly days. For those who prefer to shoot air pistol we have an indoor heated 10 metre range.
Many pistol shooting diciplines and styles are practiced at NSRG, some of the organized regular practice sessions and shoots include bullseye pistol (VPSA), PPC, Cowboy Action, and Air Gun.
.22 Cal Bulls Eye
The Victoria Precision Shooting Association (VPSA) offers an opportunity for more serious shooters to train and practice the art of bulls eye shooting in a semi-formal format. VPSA rents space at NSRG every Sunday morning. This time is reserved for VPSA members and their registered guests. More information may be obtained at VPSA.
PPC Shooting
PPC is the acronym for Practical Pistol Course. This shooting discipline evolved from police firearm training into a sport enjoyed by civilians as well as law enforcement officers. PPC shooting involves shooting at targets from different distances, under different time constraints and from a variety of shooting positions. In PPC, the shooter does not walk or run with the firearm. The focus is on accuracy within a defined time allotment.
NSRG is hosting PPC matches in 2019 on:
Sunday, April 4; Sunday, June 9; Sunday, September 8
Check the NSRG Range Schedule Calendar for times. For more information contact the coordinator, Stephen Taylor at email Stephen Taylor .
.22 Cal Metallic Silhouette
A set of targets consists of four types of different sized animal shaped steel silhouettes, chickens, pigs, turkeys and rams, five of each kind. The targets are placed at a distance of 25 yards. The event is shot either one or two handed and in a standing position; a 22 rimfire pistol or revolver is used and may have either open, red dot, or peep sites. No Olympic, free style, or other special purpose firearms are allowed, this included barrels over 8 inches in length and compensators.
