Cadets
About Cadets at NSRG The NSRG Cadets program is designed to introduce youth to the shooting sports in a safe, structured, and supportive environment. Focused on safety, responsibility, and skill development, the program teaches young participants the fundamentals of marksmanship while fostering discipline, confidence, and respect for range rules and equipment. Under qualified supervision, Cadets learn proper firearm handling, safe range practices, and foundational shooting techniques appropriate to their age and experience level. The program emphasizes personal growth, teamwork, and sportsmanship while encouraging a lifelong appreciation for safe and responsible participation in shooting sports. NSRG Cadets provides a positive setting where youth can build skills at their own pace, develop leadership qualities, and gain confidence in a controlled and encouraging atmosphere. Cadets must be registered in the local Cadets Program to be part of the NSRG Cadets shooting activities. Eligibility: Open to youth participants within approved age guidelines. Parental/guardian consent is required. All participants must complete mandatory safety orientation prior to participation. Schedule: For the schedule of organized Cadet sessions, please refer to the range calendar HERE. | Cadets Fees Program fees may apply. Please refer to the event listing for details. Cadets Development Pathway
The Cadet program follows a progressive skill-building model: Beginner Level Introduction to range safety and etiquette Understanding parts of equipment and safe handling procedures Basic stance, grip, sight alignment, and trigger control Close-range target shooting with instructor guidance Intermediate Level Reinforcement of safety habits and independent range preparation Improved consistency in accuracy and shot grouping Introduction to scoring and goal setting Greater personal responsibility and peer support Advanced Level Refinement of precision and technique Introduction to competition-style formats (where applicable) Leadership development and mentorship of newer Cadets Preparation for transition into adult disciplines Progression is based on demonstrated safety, skill development, and instructor assessment rather than age alone. |
