VPSA 2023 Competition Protocol Under COVID Concerns

The procedure of collecting a small entry fee ($3.00) and returning cash prizes will be continued but always in keeping with the informal fun match concept. Please try to bring the exact change for the entry fee as it can be hard to make change.

For 2023 we will introduce 2 modifications, one for the International Centre Fire which will now include a .22 pistol option to shoot Sport Pistol which follows the same protocol at Centre Fire and the other is to allow the option to use a support to shoot with in the International Free Pistol discipline. The hope is that this will encourage more members to come out and participate in a match.

Also for 2023 we will reintroduce the handicap system to help “even” the playing field and will award cash prizes for the 2 highest scores (1st and 2nd) and for the most improved shooter for that particular match.

Please keep in mind that any new health restrictions or orders may affect the 2023 schedule.

  • Matches will start promptly at 9:30 am.
  • They will consist of one relay with a maximum score of 600 points (6 targets X 100 points) per match.
  • There is space for up to 14 shooters per match so there is no guarantee that there will be a open spot to shoot from if you arrive late.
  • The two outside target runs will be retained for shooters preferring to isolate from other shooters. The other target runs will be shared by two shooters as needed.
  • Each competitor will mark their own targets with the competition director overseeing the marking. There will be no 50m events. Instead 1/2 size targets will be set up at 25m.
  • Shooters must compete in a minimum of 7 matches throughout the year to be eligible for year end awards for best shooter.
